With Canva, not only can you use their existing frames in your design, but you can also create one! In this article, we will guide you through the steps of learning how to create custom frames in Canva. There are limitless ways to create a stunning design indeed!
Note: This tutorial requires a Canva Pro membership, if you are ready to dive deeper into Canvas power tools, I encourage you to get one now!
Step 1: Create a new design
Select the format size and open a new design page in Canva. If you are a Canva Pro member, you can set the new page with a customized page size!
STEP 2: upload the object for creating the custom frame
You can either use your own images or objects or search for them from the Canva library. This time I selected a geometric shape from the library (hints: search “Neo geometric”)
STEP 3: SAVE AS SVG file and open it in POWErPOINT
First, click “Share” at the top right corner, select “Download” then select the file type as “SVG”.
After completing the download, open Powerpoint, then select Insert > Pictures > Picture from file, then import the SVG file:
STEP 4: CONVERT THE OBJECT TO SHAPE
Click the “Convert to Shape” button at the top left corner:
STEP 5: FILL THE SHAPE WITH PICTURE
Select the shape, click “Shape Fill” > “Picture” and choose any picture to fill the shape:
STEP 6: SAVE AS PDF file AND IMPORT IT TO CANVA
After saving the PDF file, go to Canva, and select File > Import files for the PDF, then the PDF should appear in Projects:
Drag the PDF file into the Canva page, then select the shape and press Delete / Backspace key, now the custom frame is ready!
Now, feel free to change the color, or drag the photos into the frame, have fun with the Canva custom frames design!
